WEEK 1 - DAY 4

Removing the Barriers

VERSE

Hebrews 12:1–2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

THOUGHT

The writer of Hebrews urges us to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles so we can run the race marked out for us. There are weights we carry that slow us down - unhealthy patterns, unresolved pain, misplaced priorities, and hidden sin.

Building a life with God means making space for Him to do His work in us. This often requires surrender: letting go of what we have been holding onto so tightly, even if it feels uncomfortable to release. But the freedom on the other side of surrender is worth it.

When we fix our eyes on Jesus and allow Him to remove the barriers, our steps become lighter and our pace stronger. We can run with perseverance because we are no longer carrying what was never meant for us to bear.

REFLECT

What is slowing me down in my walk with God right now?
What do I need to surrender, so I can run with freedom?

PRAYER

Jesus, search my heart and show me what is holding me back. Give me the courage to lay it down, so I can walk in the fullness of life You offer.
